Disgraced former attorney, serial liar, and convicted criminal Michael Cohen is the star witness of Attorney General Letitia James in New York. That’s the case where Trump allegedly overvalued his properties to secure loans that he paid back, and in which there were never any victims (or crimes).
Cohen said he had the goods on Trump. That was why AG Letitia James made him the central piece of evidence in the case. Except… Cohen fell apart on the stand last week. Letitia James’ entire case fell apart at the same time. And yet the moonbat judge still won’t dismiss this fraudulent case!
Michael Cohen turned out to be the personal attorney version of Mike Pence—a self-important, back-stabbing liar with no loyalty whatsoever to Donald Trump. Cohen insisted that he had the goods on Trump. He testified on Tuesday of last week that he had personally altered financial statements with Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, under direct orders from Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, Trump’s legal team got the chance to cross-examine Cohen, and Letitia James’ case fell completely apart.
Trump’s attorney Alina Habba tore Cohen to shreds on the stand, although the media didn’t characterize it that way. To give you an idea of how far back Cohen’s lies go, he testified before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence about Donald Trump, back when Russia hoaxer Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was the committee chair.
Habba reminded the court that when Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for lying to the congressional committee, the judge asked Cohen 50 questions before he would allow Cohen to plead guilty. Cohen said that was correct. That prompted moonbat Judge Arthur Engoron to pull the attorneys aside for a conversation with Cohen.
Engoron asked Cohen, “You lied more than once in federal court, correct?”
Cohen answered, “Correct.”
Realizing that he had just completely buried Letitia James’ case with that one-word answer, Cohen then started trying to backtrack on his testimony from Tuesday. He claimed that while yes, he may have lied to the federal court multiple times, he was totally telling the truth when he told the Intel Committee that he’d inflated Trump’s property values.
On Tuesday, Cohen had testified that he had never “overtly” stated to the Intel Committee that he’d inflated Trump’s property values. Then he changed his mind again and said that he did lie to the committee, since that was literally what he pleaded guilty to and went to prison for.
The next exchange in the courtroom was honestly amazing:
“You’re now saying that Mr. Trump did not direct you to inflate the numbers on the statements of financial condition,” ask Habba.
Cohen refused to answer the question until Judge Engoron forced him to.
“Not that I recall,” said Cohen.
“So, Mr. Trump never directed you to inflate the numbers on the financial statements?”
“Correct,” answered Cohen, completely changing his story from what he had just testified to the day before.
That was the entire case right there. Cohen poured gasoline all over the case and lit a match. He was the star witness!
Trump’s defense attorneys then asked that this frivolous case be immediately dismissed, since Cohen had admitted that he never inflated values of Trump’s properties. The radical, far-left, Trump-hating judge denied the request.
Prosecutors and Trump’s attorneys then started arguing over whether Cohen’s guilty plea from years ago, in which he lied about lying about lying and told some more lies, was more important than this new admission that Cohen had lied. Judge Engoron then pitched a hissy fit.
He accused both sides of trying to “micromanage” the case when they had so many additional materials to go through. Trump’s attorneys asked once again to dismiss the case, since it was obvious that Cohen’s testimony could not be rehabilitated.
“Absolutely denied,” barked the crazy judge. He then went on such a nutty tirade that it could have been scripted by Adam Schiff.
“This case has evidence, credible or not, all over the place.
“There’s a 200-page complaint … with evidence all over the place. There’s enough evidence in this case to fill this courtroom!”
The judge then claimed that Michael Cohen wasn’t even that important of a witness, despite the fact that Cohen was clearly the star witness against Trump. What’s the rest of the evidence that Engoron is talking about? Must be more of that hiding-in-plain-sight evidence, like Adam Schiff claimed he had during the Russia hoax.
